the Rocky Mountains

Alberta, Canada.

The Canadian Rockies were my one of my first photographic destination, different from the one I had made in Turkey where the focus had been more into social and culture.
At that time I already knew the natural wonders of Lake Louise, Moraine or the Yoho or Jasper National Parks through the incredible photographs of Paul Zizca thinking that they were unattainable destinations, from other latitudes. A little search showed to me that it was actually very accessible from my location in Mexico City. Then the trip began to drawn itself in my notebook, and a couple of weeks later I was already clear about the itinerary I wanted to follow. I marked the days on the calendar, packed my bags, and took a flight to Calgary. I fully immersed myself in an exciting journey into the forest and lush alpine nature.
It was a trip with many deficiencies that I could have planned much better, with a car and with a larger budget, but due to the circumstances by that time it couldn't wait any longer and I had to make that trip that same summer. Although some photographs and notes were subsequently published in the National Geographic Traveler LaTam and others outdoor magazines, it was'nt any assigned mission. I would have a better planning! But it was about self discovering, a little bit of adventure, reacting to the unknown and also enjoying it. Perhaps now I have a better idea of what I am looking for and be more accurate in managing and saving time, travel and resources as well as a broader understanding of the technique and photographic intention. Surely the result will be very different today, but without a doubt it revealed many characteristics of my personality that I was not able to visualize then and that later would confront me with my profession and my lifestyle in the huge Mexico City.
One day I will return much better equipped and planned to do better justice to that wonderful and wild rocky landscape.
